 Welcome to 2014

2013 was the first full year for Paws for the Cause in Kansas City, MO. I was able to Foster: 18 kittens, 5 dogs, 8 puppies, 5 baby bunny's, and 5 adult cats, for a grand total of 40 foster friends this year! We've had some heartbreak, because many that we take in are sick, injured,  or abandoned infants. We have had many more wonderful experiences than sad ones though. When one of our favorites finds their forever home it makes all the trouble and worry well worth it!!! I feel grateful to have been a part of helping such pure spirits have a happier life, my heart could burst with joy at every happy ending.

Working with the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City is wonderful. The staff there is dedicated, compassionate, and hard working. I've met kindred spirits like Tania, Kate, Regan,Nancy, Jay, Pete, Jennifer, Lorna, and many more working there. I feel so lucky to have fallen in with such a great team, and I'm excited about their plans for 2014!

Here are some follow ups on some of the pets we've been working with this year:

Olivia is a lovely long haired spayed female that we are fostering for the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City. She was suffering from a badly broken and reknit rear leg and foot bone. The whole leg had to be amputated. She is still recovering here, but the good news is she isn't in pain anymore! She has always been a couch potato, so she is still learning how to work her three legged body. She's no slouch though, she was using her litter box and exploring the house just days after her surgery. Olivia  is still available for adoption. If you would like to meet her my contact information is at the bottom of this page.

Olivia

Archer

When Archer was dumped in a box at the Humane Society, he was very angry. Like many of the older house cats that become homeless, finding himself in the shelter was devastating for him. He became very depresses and stopped eating, even drinking water. It was heartbreaking  for all of us , and we each tried everything we could think of to bring him out of his funk. Tania and Andrea and I made a point of giving him lots of attention. We hand fed him , gave him fluids by injection, and fussed over him so much that we spoiled him. He is with us in foster care now, ands demands a daily brushing, 2-3 treats , and will only drink from a running faucet. He is healthy and robust now. He will stay in his foster home unless adopted. Returning to the shelter again would just break his heart. He is a senior cat that has been declawed.

Stormy

You'll he Stormy's photo's all over this site, She was such an adorable puppy! She was abandoned just days old, needing special care and bottle feeding. She was such fun! She lives somewhere in Colorado now, but she's in our hearts forever too!

Marvel is a sweet female true tabby who was born with underdeveloped eyes. She is completely blind, and will be having surgery once shes old enough to remove her useless eyes because they are a constant source of infection. She was Bottle raised by her first foster Mom Becka. She will be available for adoption soon  after her surgery.

Her name suits her very well. She is a Marvel to watch. She's adapted fearlessly to the world she's never seen, and does everything other kittens do. She's very attentive, playful, and sweet natured. Her markings are stunning, there's a little heart between her shoulderblades and bullseyes on her sides.

We called him Ditto when he was this small. He had a rough start  in life, abandoned as an infant, then getting an upper resperatory infection and then puppy strangles! He made it through and became a wonderful well mannered guy.

Marvel

We were thrilled when the perfect couple adopted him and named him Porter! It was a

magic moment , and well deserved happy ending!

Silly Milly  was dumped in the street in front of the shelter terrified and in heat. She is a lovely spayed Tortoiseshell lady now at the shelter. She is desperate to find a person of her own and would rather be the only cat!
